Ni Hao!

Our move to Asia has been quite the exciting one thus far. We have been living in Wuhan, China for the past 3 months. The city of Wuhan has a whopping population of 11 million people and its been an adventure for us Canadians, to say the least. From scootering through the crazy traffic and chaotic driving system to navigating the must have Chinese apps to pay for pretty much everything (taxi's, buy groceries, order takeout, pay bills etc), daily life is extremely eventful with the most random things you could ever imagine.

The Wuhanese people have been very friendly despite the language barrier. No-one in Wuhan speaks any English. We have had fun using our conversational Chinese and charade skills to communicate, learning new words every day.

As we are settling in to our daily lives and routine in China, we've been exploring our surrounding area.

On New Years weekend we traveled to Hankou, an area of Wuhan that hosts the famous "Yellow Crane Tower". Starting at the east gate we had a nice walk down a winding stone path, lined with intricate archways. After making a stop to ring the giant bell, we ventured up the Yellow Crane Tower to check out the views of this mega-city.

Definitely would recommend this to anyone in Wuhan looking for a way to spend a nice Saturday afternoon!

Enjoy!

There is nothing better than exploring the beautiful outdoors at the peak of Autumn. It is pretty safe to say we are "adventure junkies", from warm to cold, sunshine to rain, you'll find us outside exploring. We adventured with Jarod's cousin Crystal to Chilliwack Lake with gorgeous mountain views engulfing us, while the sun peaked out through the clouds to say hello. We then set off and hiked Lindeman Lake Trail, a moderately steep climb with a stunningly calm mirror lake at the top. The fall colours and clear blue shades of water were breath taking. We highly recommend exploring Chilliwack and surrounding area, bundle up and get outside! Hope you enjoy our outdoor fall adventure.

To us, adventure is always worthwhile. With our move to China pushed back a month because of a paper work glitch, we've been "stuck" in the beautiful city of Vancouver (not a bad place to be stranded, am I right?). Of course our spontaneous personalities have us exploring everything this gorgeous place has to offer. As well as leading us to grab a backpack, jump in our friend Stu's van and road trip for the weekend to surf in Tofino, BC.

The quaint surf town of Tofino has such a chill vibe. You see retro hippie vans passing by with surf boards strapped to them, plastered with bumper stickers 'I'd rather be surfing' , surfers biking with their boards to the beaches, the campgrounds partying in to the early hours of the morning, and the unique trees on the ocean side grow sideways from the strong ocean winds. This trip was special because we got to adventure with our good friend Stu again plus it was also our first time SURFING!

We had a blast going with the flow and hardly planning anything, (especially the night Alison drank waaaay too much boxed wine haha). Some food for thought when your life doesn't always go as planned:

"In life you have to stop worrying about the potholes in the road and enjoy the journey."
